Barn Museum Progress The Society's Building and Grounds Committee are currently working on a new barn addition. It will be roughly the same size and the same look as the existing barn. Two CAD students from the W.D. Ormsby Educational Center provided architectural drawings needed to receive a building permit for its construction.
Over the next several months construction will be in full swing on the east end of the existing barn. Of course we are still in need of donations to complete the project. The idea was to start the much needed storage and display area in stages. We are in the progress of erecting a secure addition without a concrete floor. The temporary stone floor will remain until funds are available while the new structure will keep our farming artifacts protected and the second story will provide the much needed storage.
If you wish to donate to the Barn Museum Project use the form on the left. Click on it to view a printable form that can be mailed to the society P.O. Box 84, Elma, New York 14059. Photos will be added to this page as the construction work continues. Building & Grounds Committee
Work on building an extension to the barn museum has begun, and we thank our many donors for their help in making this project possible. The extension is necessary to bring the artifacts that were outside in the barn to protect them from the weather.
Our dairy and barn artifacts date back to the 1830's and it is the mission of the society to preserve Elma's history in a way that is available for public viewing.
Your continuing support is appreciated to complete the flooring and inside for displays.
